The UBC Twin Project is a long-term behavioural genetics study aimed at understanding the genetic and environmental influences on personality and related disorders. The study includes approximately 2,000 pairs of reared-together twins from across Canada, with initial recruitment focused on Vancouver and southwestern British Columbia. Recruitment began in 1991 through widespread media outreach, including newspaper advertisements, radio and television appearances, and community talks. The cohort includes adult twins aged 18 to 84 years from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Follow-up assessments have been conducted intermittently over the years, aligned with evolving research questions, rather than on a fixed schedule.
