UDAYA is a longitudinal study of adolescents’ transition to adulthood in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, India. The survey follows adolescents aged 10–19 at wave 1 and aged 13–22 at wave 2 and the households to which they belonged. A total of 10,433 adolescents in Bihar and 10,141 adolescents in Uttar Pradesh were interviewed at wave 1 in 2015–16. Five categories of adolescents were included in the sample: unmarried boys aged 10–14 and 15–19, unmarried girls aged 10–14 and 15–19 and married girls aged 15–19.
