UGU is a Swedish longitudinal database in the field of education that started in 1961. As part of the national evaluation of the school system, the study contributes data that can be linked to other databases. The study includes nationally representative samples of students from eleven cohorts, born between 1948 and 2010. Each cohort comprises approximately 10,000 students born in the same year, along with their teachers and guardians. Participants are followed throughout their time in the general school system via annual school administrative data and assessments. UGU-LIFE is an extension of the UGU project that follows up participants born in 1948 and 1953 who participated in UGU when they were in school. The study also plans to introduce a twelfth cohort of students born in 2016.
