VA NAS is a longitudinal study of over 2,000 men between the ages of 21 and 81 at recruitment in the Boston area, United States of America, who enrolled between 1961 and 1970. Participants were recruited though large companies and radio and newspaper advertisements. Over 96% of the cohort were veterans, with most serving in World War II or the Korean War.
