The VERiTAS study was a prospective multicenter cohort study coordinated by the University of Illinois Chicago, designed to assess stroke risk based on hemodynamic status in patients with symptomatic vertebrobasilar disease (VBD); it enrolled 72 participants from five North American centers. Participants were recruited between 2008 and 2014 from clinical settings and were adults who had experienced a vertebrobasilar transient ischemic attack or nondisabling stroke within the previous 60 days. Participants underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and neurological assessment at baseline and were followed up with monthly phone calls and in-person visits at 6, 12, and 24 months to monitor stroke outcomes.
