The VP-EDAD aims to develop a probabilistic algorithm for identifying individuals at risk of Alzheimer's disease within a few years by integrating various data types including sociodemographic, clinical, neurological, and neuroimaging information. The project recruited over 1,200 volunteers aged 70 to 85 between October 2011 and December 2013, monitoring them annually for 5 years to track cognitive decline and dementia development, with further annual follow-ups for 4 years after the baseline assessment. At baseline, the mean age of participants was 74.4 years, and 63.5% were women.
