WCHADS is a prospective cohort study focusing on first-time pregnant mothers and their children. Participants were recruited at 12 weeks gestation, with an 'extensive' general population sample and an 'intensive' stratified simple random subsample. The intensive sample includes those at high psychosocial risk (i.e., scoring above the threshold for psychological abuse at 20 weeks gestation) and a random selection from those at low psychosocial risk (i.e., scoring below the threshold).
