Sample details

The WEAHC includes a cohort of Chinese adolescents (7th graders from one junior high school and 10th graders from one senior high school in Dujiangyan) exposed to the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. All 1,573 students who responded to the initial survey in 2008 were followed up through four waves of surveys, subsequently at 12, 18, 24, and 30 months after the earthquake. A genetic sub-study was initiated 5.5 years after the earthquake using the junior high school students from the original cohort, as well as students who had experienced the same earthquake and were current students from the two schools. A 10-year follow-up after the earthquake was conducted in November 2018.
