Sample details

The West Japan Twins and Higher Order Multiple Births Registry investigates human genetics and maternal and child health, in a cohort of twins and higher order multiples from West Japan. Twins born after 1977, triplets born after 1978, quadruplets born after 1990, and quintuplets born after 1993, were recruited starting in the 1990s. Since its inception, the registry has continued to enrol new participants, significantly expanding its database and reaching over 7,000 twins and 4,000 higher order multiples by 2019. Follow-up questionnaires are sent out every 3-4 years to monitor the development and health of the participants.
