The WFL project is one of the Timescapes qualitative longitudinal studies. The project qualitatively explored the ways in which working parents and their primary school-aged children negotiate their work and family lives over time by following a sample of Scottish families over a three year period (2007-2010). The sample comprised 14 families with primary-school-aged children, with varying compositions and socio-economic circumstances, from South East Scotland. Fourteen mothers, 8 fathers, and 16 children participated, drawn from 5 lone-mother households and 9 heterosexual couple families.
