The STRATEGIC Study aimed to understand the mechanisms behind the brain's recovery during the first year after participants endured an ischaemic stroke, occurring 30-90 days before baseline data collection in 2013. The study followed around 200 participants over the age of 50 years, with follow-ups occurring at 30 days, 30-90 days and at one year. The study ended a year after the participants' baseline data. Once all participants had been followed up for a year, the study ended in 2019.
