German Wismut Uranium Miners Cohort Study (WISMUT)
BACK
Sample details

WISMUT aims to investigate the health consequences of occupational exposure to radiation and dust. The cohort includes around 59,000 male former miners employed for at least 6 months from 1946 to 1989 at the former Wismut uranium company in East Germany. The study was established in 1993, collecting data on the cohort using Wismut's personnel files to estimate the exposure to radiation and dust. Since 1998, passive mortality follow-up for the cohort has been performed every five years.
