WMCS is an accelerated cohort following several cohorts of children and young people across Wales as they progress through the education system. Recruitment involved identifying a selected sample of 29 schools (13 secondary and 16 primary) across Wales designed to include diverse communities such as advantaged and disadvantaged areas, rural and urban areas, and Welsh and English-speaking areas.
