The WPS was established to systematically assess employment structure, labor demand, human resources management and employment relations in workplaces across South Korea. The first survey in 2006 included 1,749 workplaces with 30 or more employees, with the exclusion of workplaces in agricultural, forestry, fishery and mining industries. Workplaces were sampled using stratified sampling based on region, industry and workplace size. Nine surveys have been completed approximately once every two years, with the latest in 2022 including 2,576 workplaces, 466 remaining from the original sample.
